History

Since first opening in 1994 Cafe Mambo has been the pre-party venue of choice for over 5 million clubbing visitors to Ibiza.

It is also Ibiza's best known sunset venue with the new generation of clubbers, with a younger and upbeat vibe than its traditional neighbour, Cafe del Mar. (It also has a better view of the sunset, and is open all day!).

Right since day 1 in the mid 90's, Cafe Mambo has been the prime location for broadcasters from all over the world to host their programming and special events. Since 2015, the massive Radio 1 stage has made the Cafe Mambo terrace its home. In 2018, over 13,000 people came to the opening night! Mambo studio is the control hub for this massive operation.

The first ever live radio broadcast from Ibiza was back in 1994, when a team from London dance station KISS FM shipped over a mobile studio with a maritime satellite system. The team utilized experimental and cutting edge MP3 technology (same MP3 as is used all over the world now) and 3 hours of live broadcast, direct from Cafe Mambo, was broadcast to millions of people in London.

Things have moved on since then and after over 150 broadcasts from its vibrant venue, the owner of Cafe Mambo, Javier Anadon, decided that Mambo should build its own radio studio.

The studio went into operation in 2003, and to date, over 1000 hours of live radio has been broadcast via stations all over the world.

The technical specification of the studio is so high that BBC RADIO 1, CAPITAL FM and KISS FM all use the studio as  their official Ibiza broadcast base and regularly host shows and events from Cafe Mambo.

Radio stations and broadcasters from all over the world come to Mambo!
